Presidents Message 2021

Welcome to the Windsor Chapter of the OIAA year in review for 2020 & preview for 2021. Our chapter in 2019/2020 raised $5080, this money will go to help 3 amazing charities/non-profits. This is something we are very proud of on our executive board and thank our members and industry partners in helping us achieve such a feat in such a year. And yes, we know 2020 has been a tough year, which has saw many difficult times, cancelled events, and lost loved ones. As an executive team we have been through a lot this year as well, we will be hanging the jersey of some well-deserved legends of the OIAA this year which brings us both feelings of joy and sorrow. Due to the pandemic we have had to cancel our free education spring seminar, and our OIAA Formal Gala which was heart breaking. However our amazing team was able to put on a Covid friendly” Golf Day” which allowed us to honour our friend and colleague Debbie Trembley. This had warmed our hearts and we had put on the only OIAA “Golf Day” in the whole province which has become the talk of the province!

It has been a wild ride, but after 15 years we say goodbye and good luck to our forever friend Mike Hoffman who has decided to step down from the OIAA Windsor Chapter board and we wish him nothing but the best. We have also said our goodbyes to another legend, after 10 years with the OIAA Windsor Chapter Rob Queen has also stepped away from the board to focus on his brand new little one Sophie!

Although we are down two executive members, we still have a very close powerhouse team on our executive board. Stepping into the vice president role we have Jennifer Olson, treasurer and provincial delegate Tena Allen, our social member and secretary Melissa Robb, and our Director Chris Renaud. Finally, myself Greg Steed as President. Over the years we have grown very close and our executive board is made up of mutual respect and love.

With a non-profit organization such as the OIAA, we undoubtedly count on our amazing industry partners to make our events successful. Thank you to each one of you!

Our upcoming events for 2020/2021 have been scaled back due to the pandemic, and the ones that we have listed as scheduled need to be reviewed at all times to determine if anything should change to keep our event guests safe. On December 11, 2020, we will be putting a Christmas Reimagined charity pick up and donation event for our friends at the Hiatus House. Our 14th Chili cook-off will take place on February 25, 2021. Please keep April 28, 2021 blocked off, as we will host our yearly gala event. We are tentatively scheduling a Free Spring Seminar on May 27th, 2021 Our 8th Annual Golf tournament will be on July 22, 2021.

Our executive team will continue to provide our chapter members a great experience at each event that you attend. We are committed to the health and safety of our members, colleagues, and event guests, and to a safe environment that aligns with public health protocols. We are actively monitoring and evolving our procedures to ensure a continued focus on health and safety. All considerations will be reviewed, and any changes, postponement or cancellations of events will be advised at the earliest convenience.
